Does anyone really know what the temperature is?

As someone who prefers thermometers to rise and fall appropriately with the seasons, I have to say that I kinda like it when the temps go for the records. After living in North Carolina for a few years, I decided that any temperature in the 80s just qualified as warm in the summertime and it was only hot when the mercury inched past 94 or so. I've been told by friends who served in the Middle East (or live in Arizona or Nevada) that when it gets to be over 105 it becomes a whole new form of heat. That being said, it got hot here in Jersey this afternoon. This is what The Weather Channel said the conditions were like a little after 5PM. And honestly, as you can see by the humidity levels, it could have been a whole lot worse.
I took this picture as I came in from the car and my tutoring appointments in Princeton just after 5PM. Dad reports it topped out at 106 in the middle of the afternoon. And like I said, it almost doesn't matter what the temperature actually is, it's just plain hot.

I pity the person who moves back from Scotland and has to re acclimate the body thermostat to warmer temps!

My dad is fond of saying to/about people who move to the South and then complain of the cold (temps in the 40s - sorry don't know the conversion) that "their blood has gone rebel thin"!
