Must have been

a perfect morning for a balloon ride! When I went outside to get a picture of the maple tree in the morning sunlight and was grumbling that the frost wasn't heavy enough to get picked up by the camera, I heard the familiar roar of a hot air balloon. I was a little surprised to look up and see the balloon so low, but they were almost done with their ride and on their descent. I am kinda glad they went over The Homestead and found someone else's yard to land in, because I had some books to retrieve and library visits to make in Princeton this morning. I simply didn't have time to help fold up a balloon, and I think even if it was a light frost on the ground, it would have been a little cold to get all the air pockets out of the balloon!

This will have to do.....

I intended to take a different picture today. There was a church in downtown Flemington that often has really, really, really cheesy church signs. What they had out yesterday when I drove by wasn't even cheesy, it was almost dumb - something about life being a constant choice between carrots and chocolate. I thought it might have had at least an iota of theological significance if I went back and read it correctly. Trouble was, the sign was changed by this afternoon and I was so mad I didn't bother taking a picture the averagely cheesy saying it displayed on its marquee. So, plan B brings you a hastily shot still life of the centerpiece I created for my Environmental Science class this evening. It might be cheesy of me to bring centerpieces to class, but I like to provide different visuals that go with the evening's topic since I don't get to do bulletin boards. Let's see if you can guess what kind of natural resources we discussed this evening.

the best laid plans

were derailed this afternoon and all I got recorded on the camera was this shot of an inscribed block on the outside of the Princeton Public Library. Until I get back there and more shots, you can be as perplexed as I often am by the random words - even if all you get is this glimpse!
