More signs of spring

Winter aconite or Eranthis hyemalis
are blooming down by the covered bridge

They are the first flowers to bloom in early winter

Even before the snowdrops that I found
yesterdayin the flower bed here at the homestead

But these were down by the covered bridge

I have it on good authority that if I was here an hour earlier
the flowers would have been open and the whole bank would be yellow
